Sailing around the world aboard Heretic, 2006-2010

Here’s a map of the route and below are some picture galleries of each stage of the voyage.

Circumnavigation route

2006: East Coast, USA: Maine – Cape Cod – New York City – Delaware and Chesapeake Bays – ICW to North Carolina. Restoring the old and primitive Heretic and trying to beat winter down the coast.

 

2007: Offshore in the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas – Turks and Caicos – Jamaica – Panama Canal.

 

2007: Crossing the Pacific Ocean – Panama to Galapagos and Polynesia.

 

2007 – 2008: Cyclone Season in New Zealand. Further restoring/repairing Heretic, sailing, working, hiking, and car-camping.

 

2008: Back to “the islands”: New Zealand to Fiji – Vanuatu – Queensland, Australia.

 

2009: Australia: Sailing north up the Great Barrier Reef, major boat work in the Northern Territory.

 

2009: Crossing the Indian Ocean: Ashmore Reef – Cocos Keeling Island – Rodrigues – Mauritius – Reunion – South Africa.

 

2009 – 2010: Rounding the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa: Richards Bay – East London – Port Elizabeth – Mossel Bay – Cape Town. Plus visits to local game reserves.

 

2010: Crossing the Atlantic: Cape Town – St Helena Island – Ascension Island – Barbados.

 

2010: Caribbean: Barbados – Martinique – Dominica – Guadeloupe – Antigua – Barbuda.

 

2010: Passage to Bermuda and back to Maine, to complete our voyage around the world.
