Arctic Voyage Video: Episode 2

Episode 2 of our Arctic Voyage video series came out on Cruising World magazine’s site earlier this month, and now we’ve just posted it on our YouTube channel. Here it is:

This video covers our first passage north in the Bering Sea, to the windswept but wildlife-rich Pribilof Islands. We were thrilled to get some great footage of puffins and fur seals, and really enjoyed celebrating Fourth of July in what’s got to be one of the world’s coldest ball-fields!

Arctic Voyage Video: Episode 1

Many of you have probably already seen this either on Cruising World magazine’s site or on our YouTube channel, but here is Episode 1 of our Arctic Voyage video series!

In it, the story begins in the storm-tossed Aleutian Islands in June of 2015. The year before, we sailed Celeste from Washington State to Dutch Harbor of “Deadliest Catch” fame but sadly didn’t take any video footage. So in this video we’re back after a winter’s work to re-commission her – think scuba-diving in the Bering Sea – explore the tundra-covered mountains of the island, and get ready for the Arctic.

Stay tuned for Episode 2 on both Cruising World‘s site and on YouTube – it’ll cover our first Bering Sea passage and the wildlife-rich Pribilof Islands!

Arctic Voyage VIDEOS!

We’ve made the foray into videos! And Cruising World magazine has picked them up for their website! They’ve posted the first two Arctic Voyage videos so far here, and they’ll roll out one episode per month hereafter.

A big thank-you goes out to our amazing friends Chris and Jess Bray for persuading us to start taking footage in 2015 (you guys are right – it’s super fun!) and to our awesome friend Jeff for getting me into editing!

So here’s our first attempt – a short “trailer” that gives some context to our Arctic Voyage episodes:

Hope you enjoy! And feel free to sign up for our Gone Floatabout YouTube channel where we’ll post the episodes after they’re live on Cruising World‘s site!

Cheers,

Ellen & Seth

VIDEO! Rowdy Arctic weather!

In previous posts we’ve mentioned some of the rough conditions we had to contend with in the Arctic last summer, both at sea and at anchor. Now we’ve got a video out on Ocean Navigator magazine’s YouTube channel that shows what this was like at anchor. Check it out!

Thanks very much to Mantus Anchors for holding Celeste in place this summer, and to Ocean Navigator and Mantus Anchors for making this video possible! (Please note that although Ocean Navigator approached Mantus to sponsor the video (and they agreed), all this footage was taken well before we had any thought of licensing it.)

Thanks for watching! Hope you enjoy!
